Controversial film critic Kathi Mahesh today approached the High Court challenging Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy's orders externing him from Hyderabad for six months.
The court accepted the petition for trail and directed the Telangana government to file a counter within three weeks.
The police had externed Mahesh for making derogatory remarks against Lord Rama in a Telugu TV channel. After two days of externing Mahesh, the police also externed Kakinada Sri Peetham pontiff Paripoornananda who was threatening to start a movement againt Mahesh's comments.
Paripoornananda approached the same court challenging the externment by the police, and the hearing of the arguments in the case concluded yesterday. That act is quite likely to have encouraged Mahesh to do the same.
