The ACB officials are reported to be in shock after detecting that there are likely to be assets worth more than Rs. 300 crores in the name of HMDA Director (Planning) Purushotham Reddy and his benamis.
The ACB has found Rs. 50 crores so far, and is still continuing its raids on the residences of his benamis.
The ACB, which had already detected two benamis earlier, discovered two more benamis today.
Officials found that Reddy had partnerships in two layouts that he had received as quid pro quo for giving permissions to those layouts. They detected that Reddy's properties in those two layouts themseves were worth more than Rs. 100 crores.
They also found ornaments from top designers, and that Reddy had also shopped extensively in foreign countries.
After the raids, Reddy's family escaped from Hyderabad, and the ACB yet to find his or his family's whereabouts. The police searching for them have formed four teams.
Reddy's brother-in-law is also at large since the raids.
Rumours are doing the rounds that Reddy has the full support of a ruling TRS MLA, who had played a pivotal role during the Telangana movement on behalf of the employees' union. Reddy indulged in all the corruption with the support of that MLA, the rumours say.
