Has Congress Dropped One Lakh Jobs Promise?
The two-page advertisement released by the Congress-led opposition alliance in the state's newspapers today doesn't have the very major promise.

Has the Congress given up its much-vaunted promise of providing one lakh jobs within one year of coming to power in Telangana?
The answer seems to be a yes if the two-page advertisement released by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in the newspapers today is any indication.
In the advertisement the Praja Front's promises are all listed, but surprisingly enough, there is no mention of the very major promise of offering one lakh jobs to the youth within one year of coming to power.
Among the promises listed in the ad are the Rs. 2 lakh crop loan waiver for farmers in a single take, an unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,000 for 10 lakh unemployed people in the state, a Rs. 1 lakh grant for women SHGs, a Rs. 50,000 payment at one time as house rent for applicants for double bedroom houses, Rs. 2 lakhs for Indiramma house owners for adding up another room, Rs. 5 lakhs for construction of houses for those who own their own plots of land, Rs. 6,000 monthly honoraria for Imams, Rs. 20 lakh grants for poor Muslim students studying abroad, and pensions for those who have crossed 58 years of age. But, as mentioned, there is no place for the one lakh jobs within the first year of coming to power promise.
Neither the Congress not the front can afford to miss such a major promise in the advertisement, and so it is likely that the leaders omitted it as it would involve a huge expenditure every year. Interestingly, the one lakh jobs promise has not been mentioned even in the brief Congress manifesto. In the section under "Youth Welfare/Unemployment" five promises were made, including an unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,000 per month and a "mega" DSC as per old system to recruit 20,000 teachers. There was no mention of one lakh new jobs within one year there either.
It may be recalled that the Congress leaders have repeatedly talked about one lakh jobs within one year of coming to power.
