Telangana Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday announced that all the markets in the state would get linked to the pan-India electronic trading portal e-Nam by the next Kharif season.
The minister was addressing a six-day training program on e-Seva at the Bowenpally market on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that the Telangana government had introduced the e-Nam facility at 46 markets so far, and that the electronic portal would help weed out middlemen from the markets and enable transparency. The government had allotted Rs 1,000 crores to the marketing department for rolling out the facility across the state's markets, he said.
The minister also said that the government was mooting a new law to help other states make purchases from the Telangana markets. He also announced the launching of a new market in Nalgonda district soon.
Rao asked the marketing officials to keep abreast of latest technologies, in order to offer the best possible services to the farmers.
