Arrangements For Grand Bonalu To Reflect Traditions
Bonalu, the Telangana state festival, will be conducted on a grand scale this year, with the government releasing Rs. 50 crores for it.

Bonalu, the Telangana state festival, would be conducted on a grand scale this year, Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy said.
The festival will be launched with the offering of the first bonam to the Goddess Jagadamba Mahankali temple in the Golconda fort on July 15, and at the Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad on July 29. Rangam would be held on the following day, he said.
The minister added that the Mahankali Bonalu at Lal Darwaja in the Old City would be conducted on August 5.
The state government will present silk clothes to the main 14 temples in the city to mark the occasion.
At a review meeting with the officials at the Dharmika Parishath Office in Boggulakunta, the minister said that the festivities would be conducted all over the state in a grand manner to celebrate Telangana's traditions and culture in a big way. Since the state's formation the government had been conducting the Bonalu festival every year on a massive scale, and this year too the festivities would witness the same extravaganza with the government releasing Rs 50 crores for the purpose, he said.
Reddy instructed the departments concerned to illuminate the various temples with bright lights, and repair the roads to the places. He also asked them to focus on traffic movement, sanitation, barricading, parking, supply of water and power, CC cameras and deployment of policemen for security.
