Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy condemned caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for targeting the alliance of the Congress, the TDP, the TJS and the CPI.
Addressing a press conference after performing a pooja in the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Mattapally in the Huzurnagar constituency on Saturday, Reddy accused KCR of trying to confuse the people by inciting regional feelings to avoid any focus on his own performance.
"The TRS has ruled the state for four-and-a-half years, and it should speak only about its achievements. KCR must give a report of his electoral promises and performance. But that progress report is totally blank, and so KCR is trying to divert the people's attention by speaking against the opposition parties," he said.
Reddy said that the formation of the People's Front (the opposition alliance) had sent shockwaves among the TRS leaders and had KCR trembling from fear of a humiliating defeat. All surveys were also pointing to a resounding victory for the alliance. Consequently, KCR had now started targeting the alliance, especially the Congress and the TDP, he said.
He strongly condemned KCR for targeting Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. "KCR must clarify - did Chandrababu Naidu stop him from providing one job for every household, three acres of land for each dalit and girijan family, or 12% reservations for Muslims and STs?" Reddy asked.
He said that the TRS leaders had no moral right to seek votes from any section of Telangana, and that people in all the 119 Assembly constituencies had realized that they have been duped by the KCR regime.
The TPCC chief also said that the People's Front, if voted to power, would implement schemes for the welfare of the dalits, girijans, backward classes, minorities, women, youth, students and other sections.
He also vowed to make Huzurnagar a model constituency not only in Telangana, but in the entire country.
Later, Reddy held road shows and street corner meetings at various places in the constituency which witnessed participation of huge crowds.
